Deviant Angel

I kind of forgot to share this photo set Adam and I did with blogspot because I'm not particularly proud of it, I guess. I had concepts in mind for what I wanted these photos to look like but failed to communicate them before we started shooting ): also the sun was set far too much by the time we got to the location (around 7pm). I have shared these on deviantart and tumblr, but it's time to dump them here (and a few exclusive shots)! You can also hype the outfit on lookbook.

OOTD: Lace trimmed life

Wearing one of the dresses I thrifted yesterday. I'm posting on my lookbook again after 6 months of ignoring it, so if you have an account on there +fan me so I can +fan you back!

Thrifting 7/11/12

Today was a really lovely day. Aside from Barack Obama being reelected (yay!), I went to the op shop alone for the first time and it was a complete success! I don't usually go anywhere alone, and after an experience a few weeks back with rude staff I've been kind of apprehensive about going back to the op shop in general. But I got myself off my ass, got the train all alone, successfully pushed the door the first time instead of awkwardly attempting to pull it like I usually do, and even struck up conversation with another shopper about a particularly loud formal dress. She even came back up to me a few minutes later holding up a flowery dress she had found to ask for my opinion! It's rare that strangers are so kind to me, so I was really flattered.

There was a sale on shoes and bags (everything for $2) but of course all the cute stuff was already taken, so I left with all these pastel pieces at a total of $25 (way less than I thought I would spend!) Even the ladies at the counter complimented my choice of garments, teehee. It was all-round a really lovely shopping experience today. I felt so good on the way home I hardly noticed all the school kids pointing at me from the train platforms, hoho. I bought a grape soda from the local convenience store and smiled the whole walk back to my apartment.

Today being such a success is important to me because it increases my confidence about going to study full-time next year and maybe even getting a job on the side. If I can do this alone and have it work out so well, what can't I do! Maybe. Heheh. It's a small thing, but a big boost. Those that struggle with shyness or misunderstanding from the general public about their outfits will understand what I'm saying, I guess.

Til next!

Style Inspiration: Ruby Gloom

"Color is an attitude. It enriches the world, it brings you surprise, and its my inspiration."

Ruby Gloom is a Hong Kong girl who's style consists of big shoes, bright colours, chunky accessories and badges, and fun dyed hair. To me she looks like a fun 80's barbie doll that had her hair coloured with markers! She reminds me of old FRUiTS magazine scans- not conforming to any particular alternative style, but creating fun looks out of interesting pieces and starting trends herself. Her statement looks include mismatched socks, large cross necklaces, studs and neons. She has recently started a collaboration brand with Andi Autumn called LA-D-DA with plans to make accessories as well as music. Definitely an up-and-coming style icon, keep an eye out for her!

OOTD: Steam Pirate??

Went back to the op shop after being afraid of it for a few weeks. Ah, it was so nice to be back amongst the pre-loved dresses and musty smell~ Most of this outfit included pieces I bought today. I'm wearing an underdress, two skirts, one dress, one top, one belt, and two cardigans. It's a kind of mori outfit, kind of something else. I called it steam-pirate when I saw it in the mirror, haha.

^ same outfit with less pieces! (skirt worn as dress)

What I Wore Yesterday~

Hat and top thrifted, skirt is Revival for Dangerfield, belt is hand-me-down, shoes are (old) Girls Xpress.
Dirty mirror!!

Comme des Cult Party!

Comme des Garçons F/W 2005 was a cult party/grimoire heaven. Geisha meets church flower arrangements and vintage curtains. An all time favourite collection.
