CANDY Meet: January 2017 Ladurée Chinese New Year Meet

First and foremost, the video above is from my brand new youtube channel!
I post every week, so make sure you subscribe!

Yesterday the 29th CANDY went to Ladurée Sydneys Chinese New Year event.
It was a small meet to start off the year with Rosa and Mina in attendance.

We met at Kinokuniya so Rosa and I could buy the latest issue of Larme then made our way to Ladurée. Going to high tea is old hat for the CANDY girls now, we seem to do it a lot! The CNY event had a set high tea which was just enough food for all, and we also received a gift bag from Mecca Cosmetica as our red envelope.

We sat at Ladurée chatting for so long that we were eventually asked to leave! As always it's super easy to have long conversations about fashion, blogging and other life stuff. After leaving Ladurée we wandered around the city perusing Daiso, Zakka House and The Garden of Spring, a longstay Chinatown staple for lovers of girly make up and homegoods.
We had met up at 3:45 and only started making our way home at 7:30 having completely lost track of time...

Not to sound like a broken record but I love love love our community and our meets! I put lots of work into planning them and getting feedback from our members so they can only get better and better. If you're in New South Wales and into gyaru, himekaji, larme or swankiss definitely join our group on facebook and maybe we'll see you at a meet someday!

Thanks for reading!

CANDY Meet: December 2016 Tea Salon

On December 22 the Sydney Gyaru and Larme Community CANDY met at the Tea Salon for a much needed catch up! It was our first meet since May since I had gotten busy with my wedding and honeymoon. I missed the gals so much!
In attendance were Sarah, Iris, Mina and I.

We chatted about Liz Lisas latest releases and our holiday and new year plans. I really love being able to have in-depth conversations about my hobbies with other girls that totally get where I'm coming from 😂 Usually if I talk about fukubukuro my husband thinks I'm cussing him out but of course my gyaru girls understand me straight away.
3 of us (not very wisely) ordered high tea sets. Most of lunchtime was spent struggling to finish all the super sweet food. I don't think any of us finished even half of what we ordered!

We didn't set a dress code for this meet but we all wore pink and white by coincidence. As expected of our mostly romagyaru comm!

As always, gotta take lots of photos together!

After lunch Iris had to dash to go get a plane so Mina Sarah and I were left to brave the Christmas shopping crowds. We browsed in Lush and La Beaute Queen, a make up shop that stocks cute brands like Dolly Wink, Laduree and Jill Stuart; then wandered down to Chinatown to visit Zakka House. As always I spent way too long in there chatting to my ex-boss and perusing the My Melody stock 😂
After Zakka House we did purikura at Capitol Tower, an important gyaru tradition.
I'm excited to get back to our monthly schedule for meets and to meet more new members in 2017! We now have close to 30 members in our facebook group from all around Australia. It would of course be nice to have more Sydney or New South Wales based members so we could host larger meets but I'm thankful for all of our members and look forward to getting to know everyone better as or community grows.
We are always accepting new members, so if you are into gyaru, larme or swankiss style and live in Sydney or nearby click the logo and join our facebook group! We'd love to meet you.

CANDY Sydney Gyaru Community Meet: Ladurée!

Yesterday CANDY visited Ladurée for high tea!
In attendance were Bec, Iris and Sarah.
As usual we all voted on a dress code. The winner was a tie between blue and floral so a lot of us wore both!

The Ladurée cafe is located in the CBD Westfield, a level below the Tea Salon that we visited on our first meet. The staff were extremely nice and the food was so yummy, as expected! Most of us got the Afternoon Tea sets which came with various sponge cakes, macarons and sandwiches. I got the Cheri tea which was delicious, and I'm still daydreaming about the amazing salmon sandwiches... mmmm.
It was nice to have a relaxed meet where we could all sit and chat over delicious food. I enjoyed the big zoo and pancakes meet as well, but sometimes it's preferable to do as little walking as possible and just chill out!

After Ladurée we followed tradition and wandered to Chinatown for purikura and window shopping. I've recently moved into a new apartment so I picked up a whole heap of My Melody homewares at Zakka House, typical Taffa... I'm always holding people up while visiting that damn store!

I can't believe we've already had four of these meets after just starting this group on a whim in November last year. Having any sort of fashion comm to be a part of has been a pipedream of mine ever since I got into clothing as a hobby- whether I was doing gothic, fairy kei or spank styles. Engaging with people with the same interests both on our facebook page and in person has been such a fun and rewarding experience for both myself and the members. We learn from one another with shopping guides and purchase reviews, eat yummy food together, and comfort one another when we've walked around the city in heels... haha! I've really grown to love these girls and love being able to meet up with them and plan the next hang out excitedly with them.
We still have a few members that have yet to attend meets that I would love to meet someday, I really hope to continue growing our community and spreading cute and fun style throughout our city!
Remember, we're always recruiting anyone into gyaru, swankiss and larme kei so if you're around Sydney check out our facebook group!

I wore a Liz Lisa dress and denim jacket, a Honey Salon bag (unseen) and Mon Lily shoes. Dress and bag were purchased via Tokyo Otaku Mode, use my reference link for a discount.
